US Dept Energy Announces $5M For Alternative Fuel Vehicles

Energy Department Announces up to $5 Million to Spur Adoption of Alternative Fuel Vehicles in Communities Nationwide

As part of President Obama's all-of-the-above energy strategy to address the high price of gasoline and reduce American dependence on foreign oil, the U.S. Department of Energy today announced up to $5 million available this year to help expand the use of alternative fuel vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), in cities and towns across the country. The funding will help cut red tape and streamline permitting processes for homeowners and businesses, provide training for mechanics and first responders, and support community planning to expand fueling infrastructure for alternative fuel vehicles. The Administration's investments in electric drive and alternative fuel vehicles are part of a comprehensive strategy to increase America's energy security, reduce emissions, and help families and drivers save money.
