Irish VRT & Road Tax Double Whammy #Ireland

Budget Changes to Hurt Car Owners...
unless you drive an EV!

The Irish Government's budget 2013 is likely to hurt the pockets of all car owners, but sensibly, the most fuel efficient vehicles should suffer the least in absolute terms. Here's our best (gu)estimate of what's in the pipeline. All will be revealed on the 5th December 2012.

Changes will likely include:
  • Car Reg numbers split to two a year (131 and 132 for 2013, replacing 12 for 2012) from January to June and July to December
  • Band A will be split into A1 to A4 depending on CO2 emissions
  • VRT rates will change similar to the above
  • Road Tax will increase similar to the above
