47 - 52% PSO rises in the pipeline
The CER has recently proposed to raise the PSO levy on all electricity users in Ireland by between 47% and 52% depending on the category of user.
The majority of this money will be used to support peat burning power stations, Aughinish & Tynagh gas power plants and renewable providers. It is also due to a calculation error by the CER amounting to a charge of €5.7m to account for an inadvertent mismatch between the anticipated receipts and the payments due under the PSO mechanism for 2012/13.
